Most Traders Don't Need Another Strategy. They Need a Mirror.
The gap between what you think you did and what your trades actually say is where every account gets destroyed. This is the mirror problem.
Ask a struggling trader what happened today and you will hear a story. Ask their trade log and you will see a different one. The gap between those two stories is where every account quietly dies.
The story you tell yourself
It usually sounds reasonable. "The setup was there." "I only broke the rule once." "The market was unusual today." The story protects your identity as a good trader. The problem is that the story is not the trade.
What the data says
Your data does not care about your identity. It shows the entry time, the size, the stop that moved, the second trade after the loss, the pattern you have run twelve times this month. A mirror is not judgment — it is just an honest reflection of what actually happened.
Why more strategy will not fix this
- A new indicator will not stop a revenge trade.
- A new setup will not stop you moving your stop.
- A better R:R will not save you from overtrading on tilt.
The fix is a feedback loop. Log honestly. Reflect daily. Let a system show you the pattern in your own words. That is the mirror.
